Friday Faith-Filled Family Fun Blog: Raking Leaves and Joshua & the Battle of Jericho
The Friday faith-filled family fun blog is a series of weekly posts with fun activities based around Bible stories. Today's activities go with the story of Joshua and the Battle of Jericho, found in Joshua chapter 6.
How do you get your kids to rake up the leaves? We recently had a family fun night (actually a fun night with friends) that included raking the leaves AND having fun learning about the Bible story of Joshua and the Battle of Jericho!
Here are five fun activities that go with the story of Joshua:
1. Wall of Jericho made of leaves:
Pass out the rakes and get to work making a "wall of Jericho"—that's what we did!
2. March around the wall of Jericho:
After completing your "wall," let the kids get rid of some energy as they march around the wall (and jump on the wall to help it "fall down.")
3. Wall of Jericho sandwiches:
Cut bread into strips and let your kids build their sandwiches skinny and tall (like a wall).
4. Wall of Jericho game:
Build a "wall of Jericho" using a club pack of toilet paper, and roll a ball to knock it down. The kids love watching that wobbly wall fall down!
5. Wall of Jericho building:
We ended our evening with some wall-building using toy plastic blocks/bricks.
We also snuck in some Bible reading (and a fun quiz) in the middle of all of the activities. The kids had a great time—and learned something too!
