robots—non-traditional family fun
My goal is to make family time a priority. If you have read my book or my blogs, you know that the way I usually accomplish this goal is by planning fun activities at home. I strayed from that type of family fun this weekend.
My boys were thrilled to have an extra family member this weekend. Their sweet cousin Sarah was visiting. What’s more, Sarah invited them to come along to the FIRST robotics competition! Have you heard of it? FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology,” and there are groups in schools all across the country that build and program robots to complete different tasks. The robotics competitions are loud and crazy, but fun and free (and my kids love the mascots walking around and all of the pins they receive from the different robotics teams!). So, our family time together this weekend was all about having fun while watching robots! Not our traditional family night. But if you are looking for fun stuff to do with kids, check out the FIRST website and see if there is a robotics competition near you!
